Energy Safety at Crystal Valley
At Crystal Valley, your safety is our top priority. We’re committed to delivering propane and energy services that meet the highest standards of care, compliance, and customer responsibility. Below is important information every customer should know to ensure safe, reliable service.
Learn to recognize propane’s distinct odor—often compared to rotten eggs.
If you smell propane or suspect a leak, leave the area immediately.
From a safe location, call Crystal Valley or 911—never from inside the building or near the suspected leak.
Do not attempt to locate or repair the leak yourself.
Avoid turning on lights, using electronics, or lighting any flames.
Extreme weather such as wind, hail, or flooding can shift tanks, damage lines, or create new hazards. To minimize risks:
Keep the area around your propane tank clear of debris, brush, and flammable materials.
After a storm, inspect your tank and surroundings, but always call for help if you notice anything unusual.
Your safety is our priority. If you ever have questions about your propane system, contact our Energy Team at 1-833-594-0339.
Crystal-Fill Tank Monitoring
Our Crystal-Fill program includes free installation of a remote tank monitor that tracks your propane levels and alerts us when it’s time for a refill.
Deliveries are automatically scheduled
when your tank reaches approximately 20% capacity
No added cost
for monitor installation
Access your tank levels
anytime through the Crystal Valley Patron Portal app
Important: While Crystal-Fill helps avoid runouts, customers are still responsible for monitoring their own usage, especially during high-demand periods.
Private Utility Line Responsibility
Per our Private Utility Line policy, customers are required to mark all private utility lines on their property prior to any service or installation.
Water, sewer, or septic lines
Sprinkler or irrigation systems
Private electrical wiring or underground fuel lines
Communication or internet cables
Note: Public services like Gopher State One Call do not mark private lines. Customers are responsible for clearly identifying them to avoid damage, injury, or service delays.
Out-of-Gas & Leak Procedures
If your tank runs out of propane:
An adult must be present during delivery
Our technician will inspect appliances and perform a mandatory leak check
All pilots must be relit by Crystal Valley personnel
This policy ensures your system is safe before refueling resumes.
